Italian Lunch Skewers

Skewers are an easy, creative way to ensure that kids eat variety of healthy food, while personalizing their food choices.

The different foods on the skewer offer a variety of different food groups, all are which are important for a child’s health.

The best part about this recipe is that children can help make the skewer. Kids are more likely to try new foods when they are part of the process to make the food they will eat. Allow your child to get creative by incorporating different ingredients and themes into each skewer. For instance, fruit and cheeses, or veggies and meats.



  • Salami
  • Meatball
  • Pepperoni
  • Ham


  • Fresh Mozzarella
  • Cheddar
  • Parmesan
  • Pepper Jack
  • Colby Jack


  • Tomato
  • Cucumber
  • Asparagus
  • Eggplant
  • Zucchini
  • Summer Squash


  • Tortellini
  • Gnocchi
  • Bread/Croutons


  • Honeydew
  • Cantaloupe
  • Grapes

1. Make 2-3 skewers choosing a variety of food group options on each skewer. Have your child help you make it. Your kids will enjoy making them and eating them.
